Welcome to our world!
We thought I (Kate) would give you a brief synopsis of our typical day...
Alarm goes off at 7.00am and up by 7.15am (unless James repetitively snoozes, which he is known to do, current record is hitting snooze 84 times!). Our breakfast is usually toast and coffee! I don't think we will ever get into breakfast Thai style - noodle soup or rice porridge.
The morning is spent working at the Bible College, which at the moment consists of a mixture of teaching, preparation, admin and meeting with other staff.
Lunch is usually spent with the students, rice is always on the menu and everyone goes out of their way to tell us which curries are not spicy - but they are all always spicy! We practice Thai with the students over lunch. Today an over enthusiastic student tried to force feed me a peeled boiled egg, 'ajaan eat, ajaan eat' whatever happened to an apple for the teacher???
Back to work for the afternoon, generally this is interspersed with a break to our local coffee shop, where we have become regulars. The iced coffee and cake are a relief from all that curry and rice!
Our evening meals are split between cooking for ourselves in our high tech kitchen (I got carried away cooking curry and have stocked up the freezer!), or going to the local hospital for a cheap dinner! I know it sounds a strange place to eat but the food is good!
We don't have a TV so often head out on the Skytrain to explore the city. I'm always slightly sceptical of the Skytrain as they always go wrong in superhero movies! We have also been playing alot of UNO! Then it's time for the nightly battle to rid our room of evil Mosquitoes, before we climb into our 'firm' (extreme underexageration) bed!

Hi guys,
Kate, your Mum is just showing me your Blog for the frst time. Sounds amzing! We can't wait to get out and see you in a few months. We are going to book our tickets up next month hopefully. James, I'm just trying to work out what you actually said getting out of the van to swim with the aligators that made the old men laugh so much! hopefully speak soon, Ed
I've found that pillow are the worlds best weapon against mosquitoes - they have enough momentum and weight to at least stun the mos, if not kill him outright, they forgive inaccurate aim, and you don't have to be lightning fast, because they are big enough to kill the mos even after he's seen it coming and has taken off.
You just have to put up with the bloodstains from those who have already taken their last meal. But hey, it's your blood right?
Maybe I'll turn this into a blog post myself :-)
james as your cell leader i command you not to use the snozze button this week!
