Gifts and uniform
We have met many generous and hospitable Thai people.
Yesterday a student gave me a beautiful fan. This was much appeciated as it was a very hot day and we are supposed to wear smart cloths at the college - no linen trowsers and vest tops! Since we live at the college we are meant to be smart all the time.
For James this means wearing a shirt, tie combo with chino's and ocassionally a jacket - a new era in James fasion history! Rock James only comes out at the weekend! For me this means wearing a shirt and skirt (this isn't really me so I'm trying to get away with trowsers under the skirt). The ironic thing is that we teach either in slippers or bare foot!
The concept of wearing cloths that are comfortable (and cool) isn't embraced here!
Today a student I was teaching arrived at the lesson with 2 pieces of corn on the cob for me! I'm going to make tuna and sweetcorn pasta for tea! This beats James' boiled egg which a student gave him last week.

let me know if you'd like a recipe for your tuna / sweetcorn / pasta combo..
I have a great deal of culinary experience in this area! ;-)
Ed got given a black eye once at work.... and I got given a cold by some snotty kids a couple of weeks ago! People just don't seem to be as generous over here!
