What Katie did...
James commented earlier today "my life isn't much different here it's just hotter, spicier and there's more traffic" - Which is true Jame's daily routine isn't vastly different from back in Liverpool. Mine however is!
My 9.00 - 5.00 (well 8.00 to 7.00!) has been replaced with a more flexible routine, which changes so much from week to week I often forget where I am meant to be (I will never give up my paper diary!).
Generally, I work for Bangkok Bible College two days a week helping with English publications and correspondence. I have just completed their Christmas newsletter, where a certain Dr J. Harding had the cover feature!
I am teaching English one day a week. I begrudgingly took this on but I am really enjoying the interaction with my Thai students. They are mature students and I greatly respect their commitment to learning and their humility.
On Tuesday and Friday mornings I help out at Rahab Ministries. This is charitable organisation, run by Thai women to help Women working in the red light districts find alternative incomes. I have been helping with their Jewelry and card making business, assisting with correspondence, ordering systems and procedures. Rahab also assist women to find suitable training courses and have a hair salon, where women can train to become hairdressers. I'm hoping to set up some IT training here in the new year - we will see what happens, we need some computers first!
Any spare time I have I'm either trying to learn language or working as James PA!
So I have a varied life in Thailand, filled with colourful experiences and brave, admirable people - What a privilege!
Kate
