Happy New Year...
The end of 2006 was marked with quite an eventful night in Bangkok.
We were on our way to the central celebrations when we received a call from a friend who works at the British Embassy, he told us that bombs had exploded an hour earlier at a few (quite random) locations across the city and that celebrations had been cancelled.
We spoke to a police man who told us to go home. An hour later a bomb went off where we spoke to that policeman.
It was interesting talking to some Thai people about the situation, they really didn't seem worried (but that is typical Thai). Some presumed Muslim extremists others thought supporters of the ousted Prime minister were responsible.
At midnight Bangkok seemed strangely quiet. It certainly is an interesting time to be here (although I'm sure our parents would rather we weren't here!).
Happy New Year! We hope your 2007 is full of good things.
We were overwhelmed by the number of Christmas cards we received. Thank you so much to our fabulous family and friends who send creative and extravagant presents – we missed spending time with you over Christmas and New Year.
