Tourists in Bangkok
Today we have been tourists in Bangkok. We thought it was about time we saw some of the local sights!
We caught the ferry along the Chao Phraya river, a very economical way of traveling (45p return). We alighted at the area which is home to the grand palace and some of the largest temples ('Wats') in Thailand.
We wandered around the area taking in some of the local sights, smells and noises (James always seems to stumble on the fish and meat markets - the smell is predictably overwhelming).
We chose to look around 'Wat Pho', I try to limit James to one historic sight per outing! He enjoyed being my tour guide, providing a wealth of background information about temple.
I'm always amazed at the opulence of the temples. The artwork is intricate and the architecture inspiring.
