A (kind of) interesting day?

some days i can communicate with Thai people just fine....

... other days i cannot.

It's not like i'm saying different things, or using different tones, or getting the vowel sounds wrong: because i only have a very limited vocabularly that i practise over and over again (Purcell module 1 if you are interested).

It must be something in the air... or maybe even the water?

Yesterday was an example of a 'cannot' day.

The day began with a walk to Lumphini park.

Q.1. Where is the swimming pool?
A. Blank faces.

Q.2 (At the pool) How much to swim?
A. You must have medical skin test.

Then for the next hour i was couriered on the back of a motorcycle taxi to:
1. Get my passport
2. Get said passport photocopied and 2 passport photos taken.
3. To a doctors for medical skin test. Doctor: "Do you have skin problem?" Me: "No". Doctor: "100 Bht please".
4. Pay motorcycle man more than originally agreed.
5. Back to pool.

Q.3 How much to swim?
A. Pool is closed.

It was a kind of interesting day...

... but lots and lots of fun!
